Carmoly, Eliakim
(1802-75)
   German rabbi, writer and editor. He was born in Alsace. He served as a rabbi in Brussels in 1832 and later settled in Frankfurt am Main, where he published articles about ancient manuscripts and books. His other publications include a work on the Ten Lost Tribes, descriptions of his travels in Palestine, a genealogy of the Rapoport family, and a coronation poem in praise of Louis Philippe of France. He was a pioneer in the study of Jewish medicine and Jewish physicians.
